About Afrika Tikkun
Who is Afrika Tikkun?
Afrika Tikkun is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to the holistic development of young people, supporting them from early childhood through to securing sustainable employment.
Where is Afrika Tikkun based ?
We operate community centres (CRCs) in various townships across Johannesburg and Cape Town, including Diepsloot, Orange Farm, Alexandra, Braamfontein, Durban, Mpumalanga and Mfuleni.
How long has Afrika Tikkun been around?
Afrika Tikkun was founded in 1994 and has been serving South African communities for over 30 years.
Is Afrika Tikkun affiliated to a political or religious group?
No. Afrika Tikkun is a non-political, non-religious organisation that serves communities regardless of background.

What programmes do you run?
How many children and youth do you reach?
Afrika Tikkun impacts approximately 20,000 young people and their families annually.
Do you only work with children?
No. While our core programmes focus on children and youth, we also support families with social services, nutrition, and healthcare.
What’s your biggest impact success?
We’ve helped thousands of youth complete schooling, acquire skills, and secure jobs — breaking cycles of poverty in township communities.
Supporting / Donating
How can I donate to Afrika Tikkun?
You can donate online through our secure payment portals, via EFT, or even through fundraising initiatives.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. Afrika Tikkun is a registered PBO and issues Section 18A certificates for tax purposes in South Africa.
Can I sponsor a child?
We don’t run individual sponsorships but encourage you to support our programmes that benefit all children in our centres.
How do corporates get involved?
Companies can support through CSI partnerships, donations, employee volunteering days, or by participating in targeted projects (like skills hubs or feeding schemes).
Volunteering & Partnerships
Can I volunteer at Afrika Tikkun?
Yes! We welcome local and international volunteers, either on a once-off basis or longer engagements.
Can my school or university partner with you?
Absolutely. Many educational institutions collaborate with us for community outreach or student volunteering.
Do you accept donations of goods?
Yes — we accept clothes, non-perishable foods, educational materials, and hygiene items, subject to our current needs.
