Education begins with a safe journey
Education begins before a child enters the classroom. If the journey to school is unsafe, access to learning is already compromised.
Discovery Safe Journeys to School brings Afrika Tikkun and the Discovery Fund together around scholar-transport safety. The programme combines telematics technology with practical support for drivers.
Driving behaviours such as acceleration, braking, cornering and speeding are monitored and evaluated, while participating drivers also receive access to first-aid training, health screening, eye tests with corrective lenses where needed and defensive-driving training.
